New Monthly Theme: AI, Language Access, and Public Institutions

The Language Policy & Innovation Institute is pleased to introduce our new monthly theme: AI, Language Access, and Public Institutions.

Each month, LPI will highlight a curated theme connected to language access, communication equity, multilingual governance, and public-sector implementation. These monthly themes are designed to help practitioners, researchers, advocates, and public institutions explore timely issues, emerging questions, and useful resources in the field.

This month’s theme focuses on the growing role of artificial intelligence in public institutions and its implications for language access. As governments and public-serving organizations explore new technologies, it is important to consider how AI can support, or complicate, equitable communication, service delivery, accountability, and public trust.

Through this curated collection, visitors will find resources and reflections that invite deeper discussion about responsible technology use, multilingual communication, and the institutional systems needed to ensure that innovation strengthens access rather than creating new barriers.

This is part of LPI’s broader effort to support stronger, more accessible, and more accountable public systems.
