Advisory Board Member

Advisory Board Remote Volunteer Closes 2026-05-29 Open

The Language Policy & Innovation Institute (LPI) is seeking Advisory Board members to help guide the Institute’s early development and long-term direction.

LPI is an independent, nonpartisan institute working to strengthen language access, multilingual governance, equitable public communication, and the responsible use of language technologies in public-serving settings. As LPI grows, the Advisory Board will play an important strategic role in helping shape priorities, strengthen institutional credibility, and ensure that the Institute’s work is informed by diverse perspectives and real-world experience.

This is a light, flexible, and high-level role intended for individuals with relevant experience in areas such as language access, public policy, government, public administration, law, education, research, technology, health, justice, nonprofit leadership, communications, or related fields.

Advisory Board members may contribute by:

  • offering strategic insight on LPI’s direction, priorities, and areas of work
  • sharing sector-specific, regional, or disciplinary perspectives on emerging issues
  • providing high-level feedback on selected frameworks, initiatives, or publications
  • helping strengthen LPI’s visibility, credibility, and network of relationships over time

The expected commitment is approximately 2–3 virtual meetings per year, with occasional opportunities for light feedback or informal consultation between meetings.

This is a volunteer role. We welcome individuals who are thoughtful, collaborative, mission-aligned, and interested in helping shape a growing institute focused on stronger public communication systems in multilingual societies.

Please submit your current resume or professional biography through the application form. In place of a formal cover letter, we ask that you include a brief statement of interest describing why this opportunity interests you, what perspective or experience you would bring, and how it connects to your broader interests or goals.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the closing date, and we encourage interested applicants to apply early.
